To our beloved Beach & Bay Half Marathon community —
It’s hard to believe that it was a year ago that we were preparing for the 4th annual running of the San Diego Beach & Bay Half, unaware of what would soon unfold. In March, as COVID-19 tore across the country and the world, state and local shutdown orders forced us to cancel last year’s race.
Unfortunately, we have received more bad news. San Diego officials have announced that, because of the current state of the pandemic, Center for Disease Control guidelines will not allow us to host our event in April. We considered pushing the event to later in the year, but city permits are not available.
If you are registered for the 2021 event, please see the email sent to you on March 1 for directions on how to defer your registration.
Registration is now open for those who would like to participate virtually.
We would like to thank all of you for your support and understanding over the last 11 months. We can’t even begin to tell you how much we miss putting on live running events — and we look forward to doing that, safely, again with you in 2022.
To better and stronger days ahead,
Your Beach & Bay Half Marathon Team
